She has her BFA and MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and has designed and developed workshops at Chicago's Field Museum. Her jewelry is in the permanent collections of the Smithsonian American Art Museum, The Art Institute of Chicago, The Boston Museum of Fine Arts, Racine Art Museum; (Popularly referred as "The RAM") and Museum of Art & Design, NY. BASKETRY WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION: Pine trees and red osier dogwood grow abundantly in the Bayfield area. Learn 2 basketry techniques and experience these native materials in a new way. Experiment with a woven or stitched form of basket-making, select a style and make yourself a fine souvenir to celebrate your creative week-end.

All other materials provided for a $ 20.00 fee. | | Photography Don Albrecht, Instructor Don Albrecht has lived in Bayfield for 30 years and has taught photography most of that time. He specializes in black and white art photos of people using everything from toy cameras to medium format, and alternative processes to straight imagery. He also shoots a digital camera. An assistant professor of art at Northland College in Ashland, he received his MFA degree in Rockport, ME.

Expect to learn more about your camera and its controls, look at how composition can work for you, practice exercises in depth of field, and how to “draw with light.” The group can work with landscape, architecture, portraiture, action and conceptual styles, documentary or artistic.

Film or adequate digital storage An open attitude. |  | Weaving Michele Auger, Instructor Michele Auger identifies weaving as a passion that fulfills her need to create with colors, texture, and dimension. Michele has spent 27 years weaving and teaching at Woods Hall, a weaving/pottery studio and gallery on Madeline Island. Finding inspiration here and on her travels of the world, Michele weaves runners, mats, pillow covers, rugs, and tapestries up to eight feet wide. Linen, wool, cotton, silk, and a variety of recycled materials are used. Sculptures and lamps made from dogwood and maple, with fine woven shades and embellishments are her latest thrill. Custom design is her creative forte. Currently she is working out of Turtle Tracks Studio, her first personal space outside of her home.
For more information: maetours@chequenet.net WEAVING WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION: Have fun with color, design and texture. Learn to weave on a frame loom, wrapped with beautiful linen. A selection of hand spun, hand dyed wool yarn will be available with which to weave (the weft). We'll discuss weaving basics, design elements, tapestry techniques and more! A picture of what you want to weave will be drawn and we will weave away. Over, under, over under. Create a wall hanging, the front of a purse, a pillow top, whatever suits you.

Some will be provided, but depending on how creative you get, you may need more. | | Watercolor Painting France Austin Miller, Instructor France Austin Miller has painted in and around the Bayfield area for 25 years. Her work is found in numerous private and corporate collections. She has conducted watercolor workshops for 16 years, with emphasis on design principles and having a good time. The Austin Miller Studio & Gallery is located 3 miles south of Bayfield, and is open May thru October, 10am -4pm, closed on Tuesdays.

Bring a favorite image (or several) to paint, and go home with a finished piece. You'll be guided through the tools and the rules of painting and design to nurture and bring forward your own unique style in the watercolor medium. Also on the agenda is a journey into abstraction, employing many techniques in a smaller format to embrace the pure serendipity of watercolor. Paper, double mats, card stock available.
